Hospice Volunteer Program
For more than 30 years, Stella Maris has provided hospice care to individuals facing a life-limiting illness. Whether care is provided in the home or on our inpatient unit, hospice care at Stella Maris is not just a service, but a part of our Mission. Our hospice program values the support of volunteers, who help provide support to the terminally ill, their families and the bereaved.
Stella Maris Hospice volunteers are required to complete a mandatory hospice volunteer training program. This program helps develop the necessary skills for working with the dying. Additional educational opportunities are also available throughout the year. Hospice volunteers are expected to make at least a one-year commitment to the Stella Maris Hospice program.
Student Volunteer Program
Stella Maris warmly welcomes students volunteers who need to complete required community service hours for graduation or Confirmation. Students must be between the ages of 14-18 and possess a willingness to serve the elderly. All students must complete an application and an orientation, provided by the Programs and Activities Department.
