Two Cool Kids Raise Money for Other Grieving Kids

February 5, 2016

Joey and Kira Nakajima lost their dad to Leukemia when they were four and two years old.  Attending a Camp Me Too day camp at Stella Maris a few years ago allowed them to connect with other kids who had experienced the loss of a loved one and learn therapeutic ways of coping with their grief.  Understanding the benefits of Camp Me Too first-hand, Joey and Kira wanted to make sure other grieving kids had the opportunity to experience Camp Me Too as well.

Last month, Joey and Kira challenged their classmates and faculty to donate money in support of the overnight Camp Me Too to be held April 29 – May 1, 2016.  Thanks to Joey and Kira, more than $1,000 was raised for Camp Me Too and three teachers from their school have volunteered to be camp buddies.  Thank you, Joey and Kira!
